Covid-19 & Laundry

Dear WishWash Customers,

Your health and safety has always been and remains a priority for us. As such, we continue to follow the recommendations for laundry best practices and wanted to share those with you-- so that you know what we are doing here at WishWash. Also, please follow these practices if you're doing laundry at home.

Here at WishWash, we are members of the CLA (Coin Laundry Association). Even though we do not allow the public into our space to do their own laundry, we follow their guidelines and recommendations for different laundry procedures.

Here are their recommendations specific to COVID-19:

“Amid growing concerns over COVID-19, the Coin Laundry Association has put together a number of laundering procedures to help keep laundromat customers safe as they continue to perform this necessary task – and regular laundering of clothing and linens has never been more important.

Above all, people need to keep doing their laundry! Regular cleaning will help in preventing the spread of the disease.

Here are some guidelines:

  • Do not shake dirty laundry. This minimizes the possibility of dispersing the virus through the air.

  • Wash items in accordance with the directions.

  • If possible, launder items using the warmest appropriate water setting for the items, and dry items completely.

  • Please note that dirty laundry that has been in contact with an infected person can safely be washed with other people’s items.

  • The hotter the wash, the better.

  • Experts recommend washing items in a temperature of at least 140 degrees.

  • Use the dryer. Viruses hate heat, and drying clothes will further prevent the spread of the disease.

  • Use the right amount of soap. Too much soap creates excess suds that enable dirt and grime to remain trapped inside the fabric. The right amount of soap will properly clean and then be rinsed from the clothing.

  • Clean and disinfect clothes baskets, carts and hampers. Clean these items as often as possible and use a bag liner, if available.”

Please know that all of these practices have always been how we do laundry, and will continue to be. For the safety of our customers and drivers, we are asking that our clients leave their laundry on their porch or in a pre-designated area and we will deliver it back to that location (when able). This eliminates the need for face-to-face contact for you and our delivery personnel.

In addition, to support additional volume we have temporarily opened Sunday routes to allow for extra laundry cleaning. We are not sure at this time how long we will need to keep these routes open. You may schedule a one-time or additional pickup for Sunday online or in the WishWash KC app.

If you have questions, please do not hesitate to reach out to us at hello@wishwashlaundry.com. We are happy to be able to serve you during this challenging time!

Sincerely,

Krista Thompson
